Chapter 7
Chapter 7: in chapter 7 everyone starts to gang up on Robert. Jack says “make a ring” everyone circles round Robert and they all start trying to hurt him with their spears. Jack grabbed his hair. They chanted ‘kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!’ Ralph was overwhelmed with the thought of squeezing and hurting Robert and tried to get near.
How does the writer use nature to present symbols.
The speaker uses nature in ITOT to show how the woman is feeling towards with a man. However she is trying to be descreet about it to keep her ladylike status. She also uses nature to describe her desires sexually once again trying to be descreet. “My thoughts do twine and bud”
The speaker uses nature in porphyria’s lover to emphasise the brutal storm that is happening and that shows how angry the speaker feels about killing porphyria. “And did its best to vex the lake”

Gothic story
It was late at night and as he walked steadily through the street the fog rose over the sky clipping the tree tops. He carried on walking through the park and as he did something rustled in the misty surrounding but as he looked around there was nothing and the noise had stopped.
Is technology destroying the English language
I believe that different aspects of technology is destroying the English language, however other aspects show that in ways it improves the way we talk to each other using technology.
I agree that there are different parts of technology that destroy the English language in different way. One way is texting slang like u – you and hbu – how about you these can be quite confusing if you are receiving the text and you don’t understand what slang text is or what it mean. A lot of us use texting slang to shorten words and to speed up texting. This is destroying the English language gradually because people are using it to speak to each other face to face which is confusing people.
However some people shorten words like ppl – people although this speeds up texting it can be confusing for some people. But because this type of texting has been created by teenagers this type of texting is normally being sent between teenagers and they understand it plus it is also a fast way of talk to each other.
People also use emojis (emoticons) to show their feelings on text like ? Meaning that’s funny or, ? Meaning you are sad. This is ruining the English language because although emojis are easy to read it is removing words. However it is a lot easier to understand the mood of the text by using emojis, they ruin the language because people sometimes only text with enojes whuch is usless if only one person is asking about somthing like how was your day and they put a thumbs up; now that is easy to understand that he had a good day but doesnt tell you what as so good about it, or asking ho the other persons day was. I think this has ruined the way we speak to other people on social media and taking the details of things out of the language.
people are also using ideolects in texts now just to add in extra words so it looks like they actually made an effort when they are only wasting time, I think this is stupid. Why?, errrrm because it does not make sense when you are reading it. when you read it it is actually boring because people extend them too much like eeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmm and hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah which is quite frankly, silly.
How pathetic fallacy is is used over 3 types of gothic texts
Pathetic fallacy is when the weather matches the mood of the setting or character. The 3 gothic texts I will be looking at pathetic fallacy is Click clack the rattle bag, Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde.
In Jekyll and Hyde pathetic fallacy is used throughout the novel and one example is when Hyde describes the sky in london “constellations that looked down upon me.” Pathetic fallacy is also used when Jekyll first turns into Edward Hyde stole through the corridors, a stranger in my own house; and coming to my room, I saw for the first time the appearance of Edward Hyde.” The weather during this was dark and stormy because storms are dark scary and intense just like when Jekyll first turns into Hyde.
Pathetic fallacy is used in Frankenstein for example when the monster was first created. He was created in a tall spooky castle in at night when there was a massive storm and like in Jekyll and Hyde the mood was intense spooky and dangerous. Which matches the mood of what the character is doing.
In the click clack the rattle bag pathetic fallacy is used a lot at the beginning when the child is with his sisters boyfriend and wants to go to bed, but wants a scary bedtime story. As they walk together upstairs to bed when the storm causes the power to go out. Then the trees start bashing up against the window causing the mood to get spookier and spookier. Again pathetic fallacy is used because the mood of n the setting matches the weather.
personification is when somthing non-human is described as something human. This is used throughout the three texts.
